Our Story

Our Story

Believe it or not, this pizza thing is actually a new adventure for us.  Looking back only a couple of years ago, we (Josh and Stacey) were living a comfortable but unremarkable life. We both had reliable, solid careers working in corporate America and doing all the things we were always told we were “supposed to do”.  We’ve been grateful for all of the opportunities that had been afforded to us. We had a roof over our heads, a good marriage, and two beautiful, healthy kids, Emma and Luke. On the surface, we had it all, but after 20 years of grinding through the daily 9 to 5, our careers were lacking inspiration on a professional level. Our jobs lacked soul, and we were having an increasingly difficult time ignoring that fact.

We always dreamed of owning our own small business. Neither of us had any experience running a restaurant (or even working in one), but we both had a sincere and passionate love for great pizza and community. Over the years, we had developed a connoisseur’s palate for pizza, and even with so many amazing pizzerias in the Portland Metropolitan area, we recognized that there was a void of quality pizza options in the suburbs. So, we took the plunge!

Spending several months in research mode in our home kitchen, we made and ate pizza literally every day until we came up with a dough recipe we liked.  We found a little location that was up for lease and was formerly a pizzeria. We spent a couple of months updating the space and before you knew it, we opened our doors to the Beaverton/Tigard community in early 2021 (in the midst of a pandemic!). In 2022 we opened our second location in Tanasbourne/Hillsboro to further expand our community reach and passion of giving back. In 2023 we were honored to start serving up slices down at Providence Park for all Timbers and Thorns home games.

This is our family pizza journey and we are thrilled to have you come on this wild ride with us. Welcome to Society Pie!

Much Love,

Josh & Stacey
